TOGA!!!!

My good friend Fumiko asked for a toga, so she could have a toga party. Seems there are plenty of togas in SL, but none were exactly what she was looking for. So, I cooked up a sexy little 3-piece number for her and baked it until it was steaming hot!

Tricky stuff: Jacket layer sash covers one side of the chest, while the shirt layer sash covers the other half :)

Skirt layer bottom - no undies of course - and prims all over to complete it. I thought about making the top and bottom sculpted by buying M&M custom sculpt maps, but they're really pricey. Maybe for the next toga project :)

I decided to make some custom sandals to go with the outfit. They're fun. ...and breezy :)

One Year in SL!

Well, it's been a while since my last blog, and a lot has happened. The costume fair came and went, and I had my first Rez Day! It was great! My friends Deep and Veronica threw a party :) ... ok, enough about me... the Wild Style Fashions blog must go on!

I have to give a rare shout out to another store: ETD. They have some awesome hair, and it's ALL only L$30 or less right now. An incredible deal! I mean, I love Queue's Analog Dog hair, but ETD's price can't be beat right now. I had to buy like 6 styles :)

Since Halloween, I reworked the Goddess Silks with shiny textures, mono-compiled scripts, and new "Lockmeister" scripted anklets, bracelets and collar. Also, there are new belts and hats on display, and best/latest of all, the new and MUCH improved Veronica's Secret Pinstripe Suit. Check it out!!!

Every look you see in that shot is in one package, and in the main store, each part is available separately to mix and match.

OH! I have mall space available sine one of the tenants moved out. Check it out! L$2/prim/day (with 10% discount if you rent 4 weeks at a time)

Happy Halloween everyone!

The Halloween season was great, and lots of people seem to love the Wicked Witch and Wild Witch outfits. The ghost avatar I made as a freebie, which went for L$5 donation to UNICEF at the Helloween Trick Or Treat Costume fair, was a huge success - selling almost 200 of them.

There were some very cool outfits and costumes at the fair, I only wish I could have had time to see them all.

So what's up for November at Wild Style? Accessories! Belts, hats, and scarves. The Goddess silks will get an update with lockmeister scripted anklets, bracelets and collar; and all the scripts will be recompiled to work with "mono", so they'll be less laggy. Also, a White Goddess set will be released, and everything in the silks line will be re-boxed.

I'm also hoping to get started on another Final Fantasy character, and another silks set, and possibly something else for the Gorean stores.

Please Pardon the mess :)

Remodeling is underway at the main store in Cheonma. I added a mall across the road, and moved most of my affiliate vendors to the new mall. It's looking really classy :)

... now back to designing clothes...

Introducing: Fran!!!

It has been one heck of a ride, but finally she's done!

Wild Style Fashions presents: Final Fantasy Fran. After developing the Balthier costume, I had several requests for this outfit. It took 5 weeks, but here she is, FINALLY. This set includes everything from heatd to toe but the skin and hair:

* Sculpted prim Viera ears

* Prim helmet

* Prim armor skirtie and tail

* Prim sheer undershirt

* Sculpted Prim bracers (arms)

* Sculpted prim leg armor

* Sculpted armored shoes

* Armor shirt layer

* Armor Pants layer

* Avatar shape

Skin for Fran is available exclusively through Body By Eve (LM in the pack). Custom Fran Hair available exclusively through Analog Dog hair (LM also in the pack).

Wow, what a week!

Over 2200 customers now, so I guess I can stop counting :)
I just finished Fran!!! Now it's time to get the ad board ready and see if Queue and Eve will have their parts ready this week... If so, this will be one really big week!

Having not heard from Queue recently, and only needing helmet and hair for Fran, I decided to take a break and have some fun. So, in the parcel across the road from the main store, there's now a chillin' pavillion. It's a great place to sit and relax. It needed something though...

A bartender! So, using the NOOB I got from a Fashcon Cafe member, I added some drinks and a script...

Say hello to Bartender Bob! :)

Fran is coming along...

...Even though it's killing me :)

So, I started Fran on August 2nd, knowing that she would be a tough job. Mentally adding up the bits and pieces was overwhelming. So this is all of what I have so far:

  • Shirt Layer armor on avatar mesh
  • Pants Layer with thigh armor on avatar mesh
  • Underpants layer w/o thigh armor on avatar mesh
  • Socks layer Thigh armor (but I think it doesn't go high enough, so I may just trash that)
  • Gloves on the avatar mesh
  • Smexy sheer undershirt layer with prim dangly bit in front
  • Sculpted prim bracers on the forearms with lots of prims added to the sculpts
  • Prim tail armor
  • Prim ears
  • Prim skirtie
  • Sculpted prim shinguards with lots of prim pieces
    Sculpted prim anklets
  • Sculpted high-heel (double-heel) shoes with claws
  • Avatar shape

So now, all that's left is the little bootie plate thingie on her right foot (presumably for kicking ass), and her helmet. The foot piece will need to be a sculpt, and the helmet... well, nothing like saving the hardest thing for last...

Still hoping to have Fran ready by Mid-September... I'm hoping that Queue Marlowe will have the hair ready by then.

New to the project: Eve Express is making a skin with white eyebrows that will fit Fran nicely :)

1600 customers now!

Amazing but true, traffic at the store has been averaging 50 new customers a day now for some reason. I'm not sure what happened, but now more than 1600 different avatars have been to Wild Style Fashions :)

So, I slaved for a couple weeks, learned how to make sculpted prims, uploaded textures multiple times to get everything right, and FINALLY... I managed to create a Balthier costume for Second Life that does him justice.

Of course, everyone says "Now you need to do Fran!" So, I start slaving away. Then, I'm totally blown away because one of my designer idols - Queue Marlowe of Analog Dog hair - says she wants to work with me! Me? Little ol' me? WOW.

So what's next?

I can't wait to find out...

Amazing but true! 900 customers!

Can it be? Today Wild Style Fashions actually had our 900th different avatar visit the store! I was so amazed I decided to celebrate with some 50% off sales :)

It all started with Photoshop and a dream...

In November 2007, I joined SL to research the virtual economy that Linden Lab had created as part of my term paper on ethics of online virtual worlds. I experimented with all the fun stuff SL has to offer, and was fascinated by the creativity behind the things you could buy. I wanted to learn how to make things so I could have a business in SL, and spent lots of time on the tutorials and at TUi (an SL university).

There I also learned a little about scripting, which allows all kinds of cool stuff to happen.

Around Valentine's day 2008, I finally got my copy of Photoshop and thought I'd give fashion design a try. After all, I'd done pretty well in my art classes, and liked to sketch for fun. What should I make? Something nobody else had, of course... a theme I've tried to stick with ever since :)

The heart cutout shirt, my first product, and WILD STYLE FASHIONS was born. Since then, it's been a real learning adventure! I started learning how to play with "prims" which are attachments that can accessorize outfits and give them 3-dimensional character. Without prims, outfits all apper skin-tight or painted on the SL avatar. There are lots of tutorials on creating prims on Youtube, but going to TUi really helped with this more than anything. Also, spending time at Help Island's tutorials was useful. Wanting to concentrate on clothes and not footwear or too many accessories, I got some Kalnins optics and Bax Coen Boots vendors so I could have a 1-stop shop for coolness :)

Fast forward to July 2008...

OK, I'm getting really ambitious and hoping to take on the biggest names in SL fashions! Well, it's slow going getting started. I hear stories (in the Fascon Cafe chat) about some people making like L$20,000/day with their stores. You never know if people are full of BS though. On my best day, I've made half that, so I guess it's close to being possible. Being a student of business, I'd like to make it work; and of course it would be awesome if this could turn into something that would pay my tuition as well! More importantly though, I get a kick out of people's reactions to my designs... that's the reward money can't buy :)

I'm having lots of fun doing custom orders for people - usually with that same theme: "I can't find it anywhere else!"

Yay! April to the rescue :)

I love making stuff that really grabs people's attention :)

Well, I hope to blow people away and make some great stuff that lots of people will want!

My next design could be for you! What will it be?
